Ceridian acquires leading health coaching firm, Leade Health
Transaction expands Ceridian’s offerings to help employers improve their employees’ health and productivity
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (November 27, 2006) – Ceridian Corporation (NYSE: CEN) today announced that it has acquired Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Leade Health, a leading health coaching firm specializing in the areas of weight management, stress management, tobacco cessation, and cardiovascular health.
Leade Health is a privately held company with more than 15 years experience in disease prevention within government agencies, health plans and corporations, directly decreasing medical costs by supporting individuals in changing behavior that compromise their health and productivity. Since their inception, they have clinically assessed and triaged more than 40,000 at-risk individuals into highly personalized health management programs.
Through its Health and Productivity Management solutions, Ceridian already provides employee assistance and work-life programs; full and self-service leave administration; an online health and productivity assessment tool; life enhancement wellness coaching; return-to-work management; and disability and disease management. This acquisition enables Ceridian to immediately begin offering employers health coaching, disease prevention and behavior modification programs for smoking, weight management, stress and cardiovascular risks.
“Leade Health has developed a superior behavioral coaching model that results in industry-leading health outcomes and compelling return-on-investments for the employer,” said Zachary Meyer, Ceridian’s senior vice president of LifeWorks, Ceridian’s EAP and work-life division. “With the addition of Leade Health’s services to our Health and Productivity Management offerings, we believe we now have the best and most comprehensive set of integrated solutions available to help companies decrease absenteeism, reduce presenteeism, and lower the risk of their employees developing or poorly managing their chronic and other health conditions.”
As a result of the acquisition, Leade Health’s base of corporate, government and health plan clients – covering nine million lives – will become customers of Ceridian.
“We are very pleased to have reached this agreement with Ceridian. We share their passion for helping individuals improve their emotional and physical well-being,” said Michael Mulvihill, president and chief executive officer of Leade Health. “By bringing our health coaching services together with Ceridian’s integrated EAP, work/life, productivity and wellness, we can now offer our clients a continuum of solutions that will better meet their growing and changing health and wellness needs.”
