Joseph J. Melone Joins Board of Ascentis Corporation
Bellevue, Washington (July 30, 2008) – Ascentis Corporation, a market leader in easy-to-use human resource management systems and Web-based payroll solutions, announced today that Joseph J. Melone has joined the Board of Directors and become an investor in the company.

Mr. Melone was formerly the President and CEO of Equitable Companies, (now part of the AXA Group), and Chairman and CEO of its principal insurance subsidiary, the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States. Currently, Mr. Melone serves as Chairman of Horace Mann Educators Corporation and is a member of the Board of the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York. In addition, he is on the Board of Trustees of the Newark Museum, St. Barnabas Hospital, and is a director of the Boy Scouts of America – Greater New York Council.
A recognized authority on pension planning, Mr. Melone has written numerous books and articles in professional journals on the subject. He is a former Huebner Foundation Fellow and was an Associate Professor of Insurance at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He also served as Research Director at The American College before joining The Prudential.
