Lawson Announces multi-suite software contract with Michigan Community Hospital
Lawson system will help Crittenton Hospital Medical Center reduce operating costs by simplifying and standardizing administrative processes
ST. PAUL, Minn. (May 24, 2007) – Lawson Software (Nasdaq:LWSN) today announced that Crittenton Hospital Medical Center licensed the Lawson Human Capital Management, Enterprise Financial Management and Supply Chain Management suites in Lawson’s third quarter of fiscal 2007, which ended Feb. 28, 2007. The community hospital intends to use the applications to increase operational efficiency by automating administrative tasks, improving data access and enabling greater visibility across its financial and supply chain processes.
Located in Rochester Hills, Mich., Crittenton is a 290-bed facility serving Oakland County. The not-for-profit community hospital is one of the area’s largest employers with a staff of more than 1,600 employees and 500 physicians.
“We wanted a business system with greater flexibility and scalability than our legacy system could provide,” said Cindi Long, chief financial officer, Crittenton Hospital Medical Center. “The Lawson applications are easy to use, yet comprehensive enough to support our operations long term. By helping us work smarter, Lawson will enable us to provide timely, accurate information and improve access to data for decision making purposes.”
Crittenton’s disparate, legacy business systems required extensive and increasingly costly maintenance. The lack of integration across departments also forced hospital staff to manually transfer data between the financial and supply chain systems, which meant critical information was less accessible to those who needed it.
Once implemented, the Lawson system will offer a single user interface for Crittenton employees to help them quickly access and share financial and supply chain information. It will also enable the hospital to more easily track and manage costs down to the individual transactional level. Greater visibility into hospital-wide data will help Crittenton more effectively manage and report on key operational information, such as patient revenue data. Other benefits will include a streamlined budget approval process, elimination of duplicate data entry and enhanced management of cost structures in accordance with Crittenton’s financial goals.
Crittenton expects to complete its Lawson implementation by January 2008. The hospital’s IT provider, CareTech Solutions, will provide implementation and support services for the consolidated system.
“Community hospitals face similar business challenges as health systems, but often lack the financial resources of their larger peers,” said Sara Van Kempen, healthcare marketing director, Lawson Software. “Our comprehensive business applications and simplified deployment model help mid-sized providers like Crittenton achieve their operational goals at a lower total cost of ownership.”
Lawson serves more than 500 healthcare industry customers representing more than 4,500 facilities, including eight of the top 10 integrated delivery networks. The company also serves managed care systems, academic medical centers, hospitals, clinics, physician group practices, home healthcare, long-term care and other health services enterprises. Lawson solutions help healthcare organizations manage their business so they can focus on their patients, automate and streamline materials management for a better bottom line, and overcome the challenges of the labor shortage.
