Washington School District Signs Multi-Suite Contract With Lawson Software
Lawson applications will help Tacoma School District streamline processes and provide better visibility of business information throughout the district
ST. PAUL, Minn. (May 29, 2007) – Lawson Software (Nasdaq:LWSN) today announced that the Tacoma School District in Tacoma, Wash., licensed the Lawson Human Capital Management, Supply Chain Management, Enterprise Financial Management, Business Intelligence, and Business Process Management suites to help streamline business processes and gain visibility into business information across the entire organization. The contract was signed in Lawson’s third quarter of fiscal year 2007, which ended Feb. 28, 2007.
Located in Pierce County, the Tacoma School District is one of the three largest school districts in the state of Washington. Its 4,000 employees serve more than 29,500 students.
“We went through an extensive process when looking at new systems to address our business needs and wanted applications that fit our criteria,” said Ron Hack, chief financial officer for the Tacoma School District. “Lawson offers an integrated system and functionality that we were looking for. The fact that Lawson offers a business intelligence application played a huge role in our decision.”
The Lawson applications will replace the district’s existing financials, human resources and payroll systems, some of which have been in use for nearly 25 years. The legacy systems did not provide the district with simple operating capabilities, and the organization needed new applications to provide timely information to employees, administration and management. For example, with Lawson Human Capital Management, the district will be able to give teachers and other employees self-service access to basic HR information. Lawson Business Intelligence will help the district identify operational best practices and then extend those best practices district-wide.
Lawson Professional Services will provide implementation services for the district’s system rollout, which Tacoma expects to complete by July 2008.
